From Denmark
The Art of The Duo
SMP presents welcomes Danish jazz vocalist Sinne Eeg for her first southern Oregon appearance. She will be joined by L.A. based guitarist Larry Koonse.
With a distinctive style that has earned her a loyal and rapidly growing fan base in her native country of Denmark and across the globe, Sinee is considered the preeminent jazz vocalist in Scandinavia,. FACE THE MUSIC, released in 2014, earned her the Danish Music Award (Denmarks Grammy) for Best Jazz Vocal CD, along with the Ben Webster Prize (for which Sinne was the sole female recipient for the last 30 years), and the Prix du Jazz. As a vocalist, Sinne is influenced by Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, but with her personal touch of soft darkness, Sinne keeps the Scandinavian melancholy settled in her music.
Guitarist Larry Koonse has been featured on over 300 recordings. He has recorded with Cleo Laine, Al Hirt, Jimmy Rowles, Bob Brookmeyer, Luciana Souza, Lee Konitz, Larry Goldings, Mel Torme, Alan Broadbent, Ray Brown, Bill Perkins, Toots Thielemanns, Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, David Friesen, Bob Sheppard, Warne Marsh, Charlie Haden, Natalie Cole and many other jazz artists. His solo guitar work was featured throughout “Crazy,” a feature film chronicling the life of the great guitarist Hank Garland. Larry has been a faculty member at the California Institute of the Arts since 1990.
