Siskiyou Music Project kicks off its Spring 2016 season with a performance by guitarist/composer Hristo Vitchev and his trio featuring pianist Weber Iago and saxophonist Dann Zinn on Thursday, April 21 at the Old Siskiyou Barn. The Hristo Vitchev Chamber Jazz Trio is a modern ensemble which explores the idioms and tonal colors of classical music, impressionism, minimalism, as well as avant-garde styles and, combines them with vibrant, constantly evolving, and multidimensional characters of jazz improvisation and harmonic possibilities.

The trio, led by internationally renowned guitarist Hristo Vitchev, features Latin Grammy Nominee Jasnam Daya Singh (Weber Iago) on piano, and the extraordinary and breath-taking saxophonist Dann Zinn.

Hristo Vitchev: Referred to by the media as one of the newest and most innovative voices in modern jazz guitar, Hristo’s music has been captivating audiences all across the globe. At only age 35 he has already released 7 critically acclaimed albums as a leader plus 4 more releases as a co-leader.

pianoJasnam Daya Singh (Weber Iago): Pianist Jasnam Daya Singh (aka Weber Iago) was born in in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in the early 80’s moved to the U.S. in order to pursue his interest in Jazz. He has spent all of his musical life researching different types of sounds, ultimately dedicating most of his endeavors to uniting elements of classical, jazz and Brazilian Music. Jasnam Daya Singh has performed extensively as a solo artist and sideman in Italy, Luxembourg, New York, Japan and the Czech Republic. Weber Iago’s CD in duo with Jovino Santos Neto received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Album.

saxDann Zinn: Dann Zinn is a game changer, who is taking jazz in new directions. As a world-class saxophonist/flutist, Dann Zinn is renowned for being a passionate soloist and composer/arranger. Hailed over the years as “inventive,” “distinctive,” and for “creating a stunning and emotional listening experience,” Dann has developed a unique style distinguishing him as a one-of-a kind artist with a tone unlike any other horn player on the jazz scene today. Zinn’s resume includes working with Joe Henderson, Taylor Eigsti, Russ Ferrante, Jeff Tain Watts, Freddie Hubbard, Chuck Findley, Mary Wells, and Martha and the Vandellas, among many others. Dann’s performances have spanned international stages including being featured at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and the world famous Yoshi’s, where he has played to sold-out crowds.
